Why this Workshop:
In the recent budget Govt. of India has declared their intention to push India to 5 Trillion Dollar Economy. This requires big growth in Consumption and variety of Purchase & Procurement. For this in every business organisation, you need to enter into, Agreements of various types from Purchase Orders to Commercial Contracts. Many Non- legal Engineering & Commercial professionals are expected to handle such challenging duties, without the support of legal department. The Drafting, Negotiating and managing such Commercial contracts requires skills which can be acquired by Intensive trainings. This two days program aims to prepare Non-legal professional to manage such commercial activities.
Dr. Ajit Patwardhan, a professional Post Graduate Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Powai, with more than 48 years of experience in India and Gulf in various fields of Construction Projects and Infrastructure Development with Training and Consultancy focus in last 20 years on Infrastructure Projects.
He held high positions at senior level for 25 years in Design, Engineering and Construction in India and Gulf. He has progressed to become Professor, Dean and Advisor at prestigious Construction Management Institute of NICMAR. He completed his Ph.D. from Pune University in Infrastructure Risk Management.
He has conducted more than 200 Training Programs across India & Gulf, involving Major Construction Corporate, State Governments, and Public Bodies in Infrastructure field. He has covered many topics in this field including EPC Turnkey Projects Execution, Contract & Claims Management and International FIDIC Contracts. He was appointed Consultant in 2013 by World Bank as Contract Management Expert for Infrastructure Projects funded by them in India.
Mr. Zameer Nathani is an LLM, with 6 meritorious certifications from World Intellectual Property Office, UN on IPR,Arbitration and Mediation, and an Executive MBA from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.

Mr. Arun Bapat is a commerce graduate, LLB and Fellow Member of The Institute of Company Secretary of India. He started his career in the year 1978 and superannuated in the year 2017.
His Corporate career spread over four decades. He worked with the organisations like Siemens, Colgate, Skanska Cementation & Tata Power. He was superannuated from Tata Power in the year 2017 as Head-corporate Legal and continued to work with Tata Power for some time as “Executive Advisor-Legal” and currently he is working with L&T (Engineering & Automation Division) as its“Senior Advisor – Commercial and Legal”.
Mr. Arun Bapat has covered versatile areas in LEGAL profession covering Legal aspects of Engineering, FMCG, Construction and Power sectors. During his tenure he encountered various issues concerning Corporate Laws, Arbitration, Land Acquisition, Intellectual Properties, EPC (Turnkey) Contracts, Electricity Act, Immovable property, Land issues and all other civil and Criminal Litigations.
He has undertaken various in house and outside seminars concerning the Project contracts and Arbitration within and outside organisations.
Prof. Chetan Kavdia Contract Management Professional (Mechanical Engineer, LL.B. and a Post Graduate in Project Management NICMAR) with 12+ years exp in techno-commercial risk management process across sectors of Construction Industry. Hands on experience in non-litigation work in Arbitration & High Court Cases.
Preparation of contracts & agreements for partnerships, bidding and implementation of large scale construction projects. An effort to make contracts simpler, realistic & profitable to execute.
Interpretation & risk assessment of various enquiries/ tenders, negotiation with client, contract formulation and risk mitigation, active interactions with Engineering, Construction, Projects, Finance & Accounts, Taxation, and Legal teams.
Advise PM in framing strategies for execution and decision making on critical issues, negotiating contractual claims, evaluation of claims, sub-contract administration, delay impact analysis, seeking waiver of liquidated damages, extension of time and calling off contracts.
Amicable settlement of disputes, Arbitration.
