Satish Moorjani
Satish Moorjani, is a former Group CEO of a Middle-East based conglomerate with over a dozen companies in diverse industries covering MEP Engineering, Industrial, IT, Telecom, Healthcare, Real Estate, Retail, Finance, Hospitability etc. and Board Director of Voltas Oman LLC. Prior to that, he was CEO of Bristlecone India Ltd, and President (Asia Pacific) for Bristlecone Inc, a global SCM Consulting company based in Silicon Valley, USA, which was acquired by the Mahindra group. He was also on the Boards of their subsidiaries in Malaysia, Singapore and Germany.
Satish is an Engineer-MBA from IIT/IIM with around 40 years of experience in top management roles as well as functional head for Sales, After Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, SCM, Logistics, International Trading / Business Development, I.T / SAP software implementations etc. He has worked in reputed business groups such as TATA, HONDA, BASKINROBBINS, MAHINDRA etc. Amongst his clients in Asia-Pacific with whom he has been personally involved are Unilever, ABB, Mercedes, Sony, Mahindra, Ranbaxy, Piramal (Abbot Lab), B. Braun, Axiata, etc.
During his career, Satish has gained in-depth hands on experience and insights into almost every sphere of business operations. His experience cuts across a gamut of roles and industries. During his career he has turned around several ailing businesses in different industries by devising and implementing innovative strategies despite having no prior experience in that industry. Following are some of his key achievements in different functions:
- Turned around Mahindra Spares business from a 15% growth over 3 years to 60% in one year.
- Reduced logistics cost of Mahindra tractors despite doubling of diesel prices by devising and implementing an out-of-the box solution (which was published in a book called ‘Supply Chain Excellence’).This innovation was later copied by most players in the tractor industry.
- Spear-headed the formation of the SCM division by integrating Demand Planning, Mfg planning, Procurement, and Logistics under one umbrella.
- Was the first to implement SAP-APO; the advanced SCM solution of SAP world-wide in his industry and his success story was featured on SAP’s website for 3 years
- His work on ‘Pull-based-Production’, Kanban implementation etc. helped the ‘Mahindra Group’, to win the highest TQM award possible, the “Japan Quality Medal”
- Turned around Kinetic Honda two wheeler business from a heavy loss situation when sales were 700 scooters per month to 7000 per month (100% capacity utilization) within 3 years by creating and implementing a unique Marketing strategy whereby 2 Guinness Records were created.
- Turned around 3 of the 4 loss making businesses in the middle east company despite the downturn in the economy due to oil price drop from $ 120 to $ 32 a barrel
